make love not war.

I hesitated with the title of today's post, but in keeping with the "make..." theme in my Write 31 Days series, and my topic for today, here you have it...

make love not war.

In online business, it's so easy to compare ourselves to others.  We may (at least temporarily) experience feelings of jealousy, inferiority, superiority and/or inadequacy, depending on who we are comparing ourselves to.

While completely normal, we can't let ourselves dwell in these feelings or feed into them.  If we are truly pursuing a wholehearted creative business, we need to realize that it's much better to encourage and support other creatives/ entrepreneurs than it is to them.

Try to see someone who is doing similar work to yours as a kindred spirit rather than a threat.  We all bring our own secret sauce to our creativity.  No one else has your uniqueness, and you don't have theirs.  There's room for all of us to share our magic with the world.

Another bit of advice I've seen on this topic is to choose not to follow people whose work causes you to feel unpleasant emotions.  It's good advice really.  If you don't like the way it makes you feel and you can't shake the negative vibes, simple avoidance may be the best way to take the high road.

Don't waste your time and energy on comparison, bitterness and resentment.  You're better than that.  And it would be a much wiser investment to spend your efforts creating new things.  Let's all get along and play nicely.
